Texas VINE in Polk County

Texas VINELink is an agency-fed custody and notification service. It is designed to help a person locate the correct individual record and register for offered custody events. It is not a complete history of everyone once held in Texas. Confirm Polk County in the agency filter instead of assuming that every jail and every TDCJ unit supplies all VINE features.

A retained record may say released or out of custody. It may list a supplying agency, location, identifier, status, and event date. Those facts need context from the source agency. For a Polk jail booking, the sheriff’s detail can distinguish community exit from transfer. For state custody or parole, TDCJ sources are more precise. No result proves only that the chosen search did not return a record.

Search Polk VINELink Records

Search one person at a time. Gather the exact full name and any agency identifier first. A birth date, known facility, or booking detail can help separate people with the same name, though available fields vary.

1. Open the Texas state page and choose Search, then People.
2. Enter the person’s first and last name, or an available agency ID.
3. Review spelling and avoid extra filters on the first attempt.
4. Filter or select Polk County or the relevant Texas agency.
5. Compare the name, identifier, agency, location, and status on each possible match.
6. Open the individual detail before registering for any event.

Choosing the agency is essential. A same-named person held elsewhere does not answer a Polk County question. If the result does not match, revise spelling and agency choices, then use the official custody channel on Home.

What appears depends on the participating agency and selected person. Copy the displayed label rather than translating it into a stronger claim. “Out of custody,” for example, concerns the supplying agency and does not automatically rule out transfer to another one.

VINELink is strongest when the correct identifier, agency, status wording, and event date all align. It is weaker when only a name appears or a record disappears. Preserve those limits in any note made for personal or court-related follow-up.

Register Polk Release Alerts

Registration starts only after selecting the correct person. Event and channel choices are set by the supplying agency, so not every record offers the same menu. Texas VINE may offer telephone, text, email, or in-app notice, along with language choices.

1. Open the matched individual detail and select Register or notifications.
2. Choose the available event, such as release, transfer, or another custody change.
3. Select an offered phone, text, email, or app channel and language.
4. Enter the destination carefully.
5. Create a four-digit PIN when prompted.
6. Confirm the registration and retain the PIN for phone acknowledgment or later management.

The PIN is part of telephone confirmation and registration control. It is not an offender identifier. People who cannot use the website can contact the VINE Customer First Center at 866-277-7477. Research found continuous multilingual support through that center.

Verify Polk VINE Alerts

A release alert should trigger an official check. For a Polk County Jail record, open the Sheriff’s Released archive and select the matching detail. Record the exact release date and time, How Released, Release Reason, court type, and docket. Those fields can reveal that VINE’s departure event was a transfer.

If VINE reports release while the Polk detail says “Other Jurisdiction” or “Transferred To Another Jail,” the two sources are not necessarily in conflict. VINE marks departure from the notifying agency. Polk supplies the richer reason. Continue to the receiving jail, TDCJ, ICE, or other authority before describing community release.

Court records can explain bond, dismissal, sentence, credit for time served, or a transfer order. They may outlive the jail record, but they do not always show the exact moment the jail door event occurred.

Polk Jail Versus TDCJ

Texas VINE and TDCJ IVSS serve related but distinct roles. A county VINE record depends on the participating jail feed. IVSS covers people in TDCJ custody or on parole or mandatory supervision. It can help after a state prisoner leaves the current-only public inmate search.

Do not call IVSS a Polk jail archive. Likewise, a county alert does not establish the end of TDCJ parole or mandatory supervision. Mandatory supervision is a form of conditional state release governed by law and Board review for eligible cases.

Current-Only TDCJ Limits

The public TDCJ inmate search covers current incarceration, not former prisoners. It requires exact last name with at least a first initial, or a TDCJ or SID number. Its data update on working days and are at least 24 hours old. A person who vanishes near a projected date may have been released, transferred, or affected by lag.

A projected release date is an estimate or statutory calculation. A favorable parole vote is also not physical-release proof. For parole or mandatory supervision, the release certificate is stronger because it documents the actual conditional release and rules. For sentence completion, seek the discharge date and discharge record. VINE or IVSS can help bridge the search, but neither should silently convert an estimate into an actual date.

Federal and ICE Exclusions

VINELink does not replace federal custody tools. Use the BOP Inmate Locator for a federal prison record. When BOP shows a past release date, location “RELEASED,” and no institution, it indicates departure from BOP custody. Federal supervised release or another authority may still continue.

IAH Secure Adult Detention Facility in Polk County uses an immigration path. Search the ICE Online Detainee Locator by A-number and country of birth, or exact biographical details. A no-result cannot distinguish release, transfer, and removal. Contact ICE or ERO for the outcome. A removal is not a community release in Polk County.
